Carisa’s Cake Company has only been open since spring of this year, and it’s already a huge local hit. Wondering what to get? We’ve tried dozens of her choice confections (a massive sacrifice, I know) to give you a heads up on the must-haves. Let’s get to it!

1. Mrs. Jenkins Mousse

Guys. Mrs. Jenkins Mousse. I can already tell you that this mousse was the most amazing dessert I had tried in a very long time. It was instantly my favorite. No toffee pieces or nuts of any kind would get stuck in my teeth, but there was a perfect and immaculate light crisp crunch with every bite. The chocolate was not overwhelming but was perfectly chocolatey at the same time. The caramel had a unique and authentic flavor, but at the same time wasn’t the kind to stick in your teeth. The white pecans added a whole new level of nutty perfection, and that’s saying something because I don’t like nuts in desserts.

2. Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookie

The chocolate chip cookie was fantastic! Everywhere my husband and I go we always try the chocolate chip cookie if a restaurant has one. We just have a soft spot for them. So, we’ve tried many a chocolate chip cookie. Several of them have been quite disappointing, many of them have been average, and a small handful have been really good. This probably tops our list. It’s big enough to share, has wonderful texture, and is chewy and soft with a good amount of chocolate. It was much more moist than cakey, which is huge bonus points for me, as that’s how I love my cookies best. Definitely coming back for this one.

3. Raspberry Swirl Cake

The raspberry swirl cake was another wonderful discovery. This cake, though fruity, was completely flavorful and moist, with a lovely balance of cream. I definitely ate the whole piece in one sitting with this. You can tell that she uses real raspberries, and the flavor balance was impeccable. If I needed cake, this would be a no-brainer.

Just a side note, the menu is rotational and seasonal as well, so you may not always find the same items available, although best-sellers are frequently on the menu. All the more reason to snag it when you see it!

4. Caramel Pecan Roll

I am happy to report that the caramel pecan roll was just as delicious as I could have imagined – I’m beginning to rethink my dislike of pecans just from trying them in her desserts! Not a ton of nuts, but enough that you can taste them, and she doesn’t skimp on the caramel.

5. Chocolate Caramel Sammie

Another favorite reorder of ours is the chocolate caramel sammie. Very chocolatey, with a delectable treasure of caramel sauce in the middle. Pretty self-explanatory on this one, except words can’t capture the phenomenal experience quite as well as just tasting it. I must add that Carisa’s chocolate products are high quality, and I’ve loved almost every single one.

After getting a bit of in-depth info from Carisa, I can say she goes to great lengths to provide high quality products to her customers. She also makes a great effort to give back to the community; a sign of a true heart-invested owner. We’re always keeping up-to-date on our new favorite sweet shop and other local hotspots, so shoot us a message if you have one you want to spotlight!
