A New Non-Profit is Sparking Creativity in Kamiah
In the heart of Kamiah, a vibrant new organization is breathing fresh life into the local arts scene and connecting communities across the region. Cynthia Valle, Stephanie Newkirk, and Theresa Henson have launched River Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering creativity and collaboration.

River Arts is all about accessibility and inclusivity. Whether you’re a curious visitor, a lifelong resident, or simply someone seeking a creative outlet, this non-profit welcomes everyone. From children exploring their artistic sides to retirees diving into a long-held passion, River Arts offers a space for expression that is as diverse as its participants.

Free Supplies, Events, and Opportunities for All
Since opening in the summer of 2024, the foundation has become a hub of activity. From Thursday to Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the doors are open for anyone to drop by. You’ll find their bright, welcoming space on Main Street, directly across from the Kamiah Post Office. Inside, you can create, observe, or simply chat with others in a warm and supportive environment.
Here’s the best part: **everything is currently free.** Supplies, guided projects, and activities are all offered without charge, ensuring that finances never stand in the way of artistic exploration. The organization’s commitment to accessibility is at its core, ensuring everyone—regardless of age or background—can participate. Dozens of photos couldn’t capture what they have available!

While the future may include low-cost options to expand their offerings, the founders are focused on making the community the priority. Their mission is clear: to build a space where people feel empowered to create and connect like never before.
Classes, Projects, and Opportunities to Get Involved
River Arts offers guided projects that provide structure and fun for everyone, as well as drop-ins with their own creative plans. Travelers passing through Kamiah can also dive into local culture, exploring displays that highlight regional talent and creativity.
If you’re skilled in an art form, there’s an open invitation to volunteer and share your craft with others. From painting and writing to music and cooking, this haven celebrates all forms of artistry and welcomes those who wish to teach, inspire, or learn.

Lighting the Creative Spark
River Arts is more than just a nonprofit—it’s a movement. It’s about reigniting the creative spirit in Kamiah and beyond, proving that art has the power to unite and uplift. As the establishment grows, so too does its mission to inspire, connect, and provide opportunities for everyone to embrace the arts.
Whether you’re looking to try something new, connect with neighbors, or just admire the creativity of others, River Arts is the place to be. Stop by, join the conversation, and be part of a growing creative community!
