One of my favorite culinary discoveries in Kamiah (now Kooskia) is Annie’s Lunch Box. Heading West on highway 12 through Kamiah, formerly nestled between the Hahn rental store and the motel was a wonderful little joint in a food truck-style setup – This was the beginning of Annie’s Lunch Box! Now located at 511 Main St., Kooskia, Idaho, pictures of the new location are coming soon.
They have a large menu, decently priced, with a great variety. Their selection is of about 11 different burgers, five different types of fries, mexi-bowls, tacos, tostadas, salads, burritos, quesadillas, sandwiches, nachos, and handful of other items as well. Not to mention a kid’s menu with items $5 and under, which is more than most fast food chains can say.
At time of writing their prices range from $2.50 for a regular boat of fries to $10.75 for a decked out nachos supreme. While inflation is happening all around us, I have been pleasantly surprised by their efforts to keep prices reasonable.
Even more impressive is the raving reviews on google; this eatery is easily the highest rated food provider in the valley! They get right to cooking your food, and deliver it at the window promptly, typically in less than 10 minutes for an average size order. Not only that, the outdoor seating is roomy, and shaded in the summer.
Lastly, a heartwarming hometown touch I recently saw there was a sign that said Red Shirt Fridays – showing discounts on Fridays for wearing a red shirt to show support for veterans and farmers of America. With kid’s menus and discounts, a generous seating area, and the best food in town, we can only support locally and hope that they’ll stick around for many years to come.
