Just a quick preface to this post: for our first anniversary, my husband and I went around town in Idaho Falls, bought only cheesecake, and hosted our own tasting. While I wish we had taken detailed notes at the time, we had no idea we would be sharing our ratings. So, alas, I can only provide you with our ratings, and not the details that brought us to those conclusions. So let’s get into it!

More often than not, restaurants specialize in one area – appetizers, entrees, beverages, or desserts, just to name some mainstream categories. That being said, it came as a surprise to have such delicious dessert from appetizer/entree-focused establishments.

Olive Garden

Olive Garden has garnered a reputation as an exceptional Italian restaurant, celebrated for its consistent quality and comforting culinary experiences. We gave it a rating of (4/5).

Jaker’s

Jaker’s has been recommended to us as a must-visit restaurant on several occasions, so we had to check out their dessert menu for this tasting. We gave it a rating of (4/5).

Stockman’s

Stockman’s proved to be a delight that not only met but exceeded our eager expectations. With each creamy forkful, Stockman’s managed to secure its place as one of the finest cheesecake creators we’ve had the pleasure of encountering. We gave it a rating of (5/5).

Destinations Inn

Surprised? Us too! While this high end hotel is known for its intricate and themed hotel rooms, a pleasant surprise awaits guests – complimentary cheesecake. Nestled in the fridge was a solid competitor for Stockman’s. We gave it a rating of (5/5).

Conclusion

IF is an incredible hotspot for foodies. However, some of the best hidden gems are hidden because they’re in restaurants known for other things. Stockman’s and Destinations Inn tied for first place, and one of them is a hotel! All in all, this experience underscored the beauty of culinary exploration—sometimes, the most delicious discoveries emerge where they’re least anticipated.
